Bucky Sinister is a poet and comedian. He is the author of King of the Roadkills (Manic D Press, 1995) and Whiskey and Robots (Gorsky Press, 2004) and All Blacked Out & Nowhere to Go (Gorsky Press). His debut CD, What Happens In Narnia Stays In Narnia, comes out in September on the Talent Moat label.
Sinister has performed around the country, in Canada, and Australia. He's shared the stage with a diverse group of performers, from the punk legends Jello Biafra and Lydia Lunch, to legendary comedians such as Greg Proops and Drew Carey. He has also performed on the bill with Fiona Apple, Fee Waybill (The Tubes), and Amber Tamblyn.
Sinister grew up in a wide range of cities, from his childhood in New Orleans and Arkansas, to his teenage years in Boston, St. Louis, and Los Angeles. He eventually settled in San Francisco, where outcasts from all those cities converge.
Throughout his youth, he had dreams of becoming a preacher, but the reality of the religious machine was too much to bear, and he left the church completely. While spinning through the American subculture of the late '80s, he found refuge in the world of spoken word performance.
After many years of being a fan of standup comedy and performing at many of the alternative comedy venues, Sinister officially crossed over to become a comedian as well as a poet. In the end, he found a place to wield the microphone as he always wanted, whether it be the comedy clubs such as The Punchline in San Francisco or the poetry stages such as The Bowery Poetry Club in New York City.
